The Bible in One Year

The Bible in One Year:

Psalm 4

For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A psalm of David.

1 Answer me when I call to you,
my righteous God.
Give me relief from my distress;
have mercy on me and hear my prayer.

2 How long will you people turn my glory into shame?
How long will you love delusions and seek false gods?
3 Know that the Lord has set apart his faithful servant for himself;
the Lord hears when I call to him.

4 Tremble and do not sin;
when you are on your beds,
search your hearts and be silent.
5 Offer the sacrifices of the righteous
and trust in the Lord.

6 Many, Lord, are asking, “Who will bring us prosperity?”
Let the light of your face shine on us.
7 Fill my heart with joy
when their grain and new wine abound.

8 In peace I will lie down and sleep,
for you alone, Lord,
make me dwell in safety.

God’s Word: Answer me when I call to you, my righteous God.  Give me relief from my distress;have mercy on me and hear my prayer. Psalm 4:1

Wisdom Shared:  This morning when I woke up … the house was quiet, the sun shinning bright and I heard the
rhythm of the morning traffic going by.  Today I need a lot of encouragement… my first thought … Oh Lord, have
mercy on me your servant, that you would equip with strength for the day ahead.  That the joy of your presence
would lead and direct me to an awesome day.   There are some days that are challenging and difficult, days filled
with broken promises, broken relationships, broken hearts. No human is infallible, and no human is immune to hurts
or disappointments.  The truth of our faith is revealed in us when our trust has been violated, when people lash out unnecessarily.
It is then we put our feet to faith, and pray without ceasing as we are instructed to do.He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8 Ironically, this is the verse for today on Biblegateway.com and it has been a verse in my thoughts for weeks now.  Justice, love and mercy through humility displays our maturity in the faith.  We must evolve to attain these attributes because it becomes visible that Christ is in us.

A Tweet Brought a Message:
There are also those days that aren’t just days but
seasons of hardships.  And as optimistic as I’d like to believe that I am, the truth is it has been a struggle in many
aspects of my life.  So today when I looked at my phone I saw the twitter notification; In Case you missed it:
Faithreel Tweeted – Let go of the disappointments and setbacks in your life and hang on to the promise of God for your
future.   It was the perfect word of encouragement at just the right time.  God uses the simple things to get our attention.
And just like that my ears perked up.  My sadness beginning to dissipate … I have hope in God, because hope in God
never disappoints.  …the Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love. Psalm 147:11
As I started my day, with my morning reading for today, Psalm 4 completely reassured me that yes, Beloved in the midst of
our trails, our troubles, our deepest wounds and through those bleakest seasons God is our hope … and our salvation. All that is

needed; Look to the cross, at the cross is Jesus who suffered our shame, took our pains and humiliation and turned them to glory.

Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance,
In Christ Love,
Jennifer Pettiford

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, as we move through the day; let us remember your faithful love endures forever…
Let us hold onto the anchor of our hope that is Jesus Christ.  Thank you Lord for the joy of your
presence in us.  In Christ …AMEN!
