God’s Word: In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help. Psalm 18:6

Wisdom Shared: This morning on the Today Show, one segment spoke about the impact of cell phones , they rob our interpersonal relationships and skills. A professor at MIT did a study, and it showed that without that face to face connection it is difficult to show empathy, and to be intimate in our relationships. Yes, technology is great for staying connected, but truthfully are we really making connection with one another without the face to face? The study showed that we are dividing our attention in conversations via technology. The study also found that we are constantly checking our phones, out of boredom, the technology is robbing the opportunity to be creative, especially in children. Seriously, did we really need a professor at MIT to tell us this? …

Intimacy in Relating:
God wants our undivided attention, at all points during the day. Yet, we seem to text, post, and snap chat our way through the day, finding the time in between our work, family and daily responsibilities. In times of trouble, we reach out to God taking him off the shelf because of need, but what about the intimacy? Spending time in the word, studying, prayer and just writing those verses on the tablet of our heart. Seeking after God in all our decisions through out the day… It is an important part of growing in godly wisdom instead of worldly wisdom. Why do we then find the need to post, text or snap chat to our friends about our issues instead of first seeking the Father’s will to be done. Sharing is good, but seeking God through prayer and fasting brings on the better result. Especially in times of trouble, God is our rock, our deliverer … Our strong hold! Beloved, do not allow technology to rob you of the precious experience of intimacy with God and just as important intimacy with our family, children and close friendships. Recently I was out with a friend, and 60 percent of the time was facing the phone.
It brought an awareness to me, divided attention is not good in any area of our lives.

Take a personal challenge to make a change in this area. I know I will be taking serious inventory on my very own technology habits.

Psalm 18

1 I love you, Lord, my strength.
2 The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield[b] and the horn[c] of my salvation, my stronghold.
3 I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise,
and I have been saved from my enemies.
4 The cords of death entangled me;
the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me.
5 The cords of the grave coiled around me;
the snares of death confronted me.
6 In my distress I called to the Lord;
I cried to my God for help.
From his temple he heard my voice;
my cry came before him, into his ears.

Names of God ~ Jehovah Nissi

God’s Word – Moses built an altar and called it The LORD is my Banner. Exodus 17:15

Jehovah Nissi (The Lord My Banner)

Wisdom Shared:
As we grow in wisdom through the word it builds us up, along with
the building of our faith. Yes, the Lord is our banner… Our protector… Our Shield.
Do you ever find your self going around and around the the same issues in a
certain area of your life? I know I do, and the questions I ask; Father what am I
to gain from this? How can I be obedient to learn, grow, persevere through this
circumstance. Beloved, that opens way for God to reveal, restore and revere us
through the desire to be obedient. To be obedient is better than sacrifice beloved.
To be obedient opens up the way for God to grow us through faith, and to bless us
with the best of the land. Yes, even our enemies will be at peace with us.

Watch and Pray:
Watch and pray through your circumstance, so that the evilness of temptation will not over take
you to bring forth havoc and destruction. Be a willing because we know the spirit is willing, but the body is weak…
Be devoted to prayer, being watchful and thankful.
Because we know “The Lord is Our Banner” Our Protector… Our Shield … Our Provider!

Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance,
Love in Christ,

God’s Word: For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. Romans 7:18

Wisdom Shared:
How often I find myself relying on self… trying hard to be good. The truth is there is only one person that is good, that would be Jesus…He was born to die for me, for you, and for all humanity. I also find myself stuck in the middle between failing and victory,working to resolve my own issues…falling into that reliance of self. It is a trap a constant whirlwind of hard core circumstances, that come as a result. In the midst of those times the reliance on self brings no victory, no revelation and more importantly no deliverance or healing. It brings to mind that 70’s song:

Stuck In The Middle With You
By – Stealers Wheel- Composers; Gerry Rafferty and Joe Egan
Well I don’t know why I came here tonight,
I got the feeling that something ain’t right,
I’m so scared in case I fall off my chair,
And I’m wondering how I’ll get down the stairs,
Clowns to the left of me,
Jokers to the right, here I am,
Stuck in the middle with you

Stuck in the Middle:
I equate this to Israelite’s Exodus out of Egypt. They were stuck for 40 years going around the same mountain. A good friend of mine once told me that the definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over, then expecting different results. That is insane! It is a pain staking going nowhere getting the same result. Yet, I do not want to do the same things … I want to do those things that honor God, gain understanding of the scriptures that are directed by God. This is possible through the power of the Holy Spirit in us, along with submissive desire to grow in faith. I want to act in God’s strength in order to gain wisdom and understanding to attain spiritual success. More of Jesus less of me.

Personal Challenge: To summit, commit and delight in God’s word in a deeper more profound way.

Heavenly Father,
Help us to be more like Jesus…and less like us. Thank you for loving us so much, not allow us to remain the same.
Thank you for the gift of Christ who died for us, and empowers us to grow in faith. In Jesus name; Amen!
