God’s Word
Be joyful always; pray continually;
give thanks in all circumstances,
for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.
1Thessalonians 5:16-18;24

Encouragement SharedThe joy of the Lord is your strength…Nehemiah 8:10

Life has a way of geting in the way of LIFE!
Sounds rediculous but it is certainly true…
As we take a brief moment to analyze how this quick pace society can paralyze.
If we look to God and know he it the only one in true control of everything in our lives.
The good, the bad and the ugly…

In The Book of Job:I
In his hand is the life of every creature
and the breath of all mankind.
Does not the ear test words
as the tongue tastes food?
Is not wisdom found among the aged?
Does not long life bring understanding?
“To God belong wisdom and power;
counsel and understanding are his.
If he holds back the waters, there is drought;
if he lets them loose, they devastate the land.
To him belong strength and victory;
both deceived and deceiver are his.
Job 12:10-13;15-16

There are seasons in our life that take us through time of drought… In those times we need to embrace those promises in God’s word so that we can be equipped for each circumstance. The joy of the Lord is truly our strength. We need to fight the good fight of faith to reach the goal and finish the race well.

But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, That is God’s charge us…1Timothy 6:11-13 When life does not go as we planned we need to commit all our plans unto the Lord and our plans will succeed. Proverbs 16:3 As I grow in my faith I can share with you sisters that the assurance of God’s word is our insurance of his promise for our life. So fight the good fight for the faith! Regardless of how small the plan it will be yes and amen in Christ- but we need to commit to him in order to see the victory come to fruition. So when those doors keep shutting in your face. Or you miss the goals you have set in your heart. It could regarding work, school, relationship, or spiritual, what ever the case. You need not to lose heart, and as Paul says, Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize. 1 Corinthians 9:24-26 The prize is eternal life with Christ and Our Heavnly Father….

God’s Word – “When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your unfailing love, LORD, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.” Psalm 94:18-19

Psalm 46

 1 God is our refuge and strength,
   an ever-present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
   and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam
   and the mountains quake with their surging.[c]

 4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
   the holy place where the Most High dwells.
5 God is within her, she will not fall;
   God will help her at break of day.
6 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
   he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

 7 The LORD Almighty is with us;
   the God of Jacob is our fortress.

 8 Come and see what the LORD has done,
   the desolations he has brought on the earth.
9 He makes wars cease
   to the ends of the earth.
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
   he burns the shields[d] with fire.
10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
   I will be exalted among the nations,
   I will be exalted in the earth.”

 11 The LORD Almighty is with us;
   the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Encouragement Shared:  As I read Psalm 46 it is an encouragement to God’s mighty strength and increasing power.  As my daughter and I get the news of hurricane Irene-we didn’t believe that we escaped the hurricanes when we moved to the Carolinas but as we watch the weather report it is a reminder and familiarity of the weather forecasts in South Florida.  We lived through Hurricane Katrina and Wilma. In 2005 we lived through 3 category 5 hurricanes and now we are facing a category 3 in our new home hundreds of miles away from South Florida.

As we read Psalm 46 it is a reminder that he is always present in ALL times and ALL types of trouble.  That even though the earth may give way –  the mountains fall into the heart of the sea – though the waters roar and foam –  the mountains quake with surging –  God is our refuge and strength.  The theme of this Psalm is Be still and know that he is God!   Regardless of our life circumstances God is an ever-present in our circumstance. He is present in our sickness and in our health, in brokenness and restoration. He is present in our daily lives, in our marriages if we open the door and allow him in.  Yes, God is present in our parenting ability training up our children according the admonition of his word.  We need to read his word and sincerely believe that God is truly our refuge and strength and help in trouble.  And if we truly believe the word then we will reap the benefits of the fruit of the word in our lives.

For me personally it always leads me back to his word- it is in his word we are to put our hope. Psalm 130:5 it is in Him we are to commit all our plans in order to succeed. Proverbs 16:3 – It is in His word we are to meditate on day and night not turning to the right or left so that we may be careful to do everything written in it. This will bring us to be prosperous and successful.  God’s word commands us to be strong and courageous. For us not to be afraid; we are not to be discouraged, for the LORD our God will be with us wherever we go.”  Joshua 1 Yes, my beloved sisters God is our refuge and strength an ever-present help in trouble.  So let us be committed to reading his word, praying his word and memorizing so that it is written on the tablet of our hearts and ready on the tip our tongues. Let our faith increase by the power of the written word sown in our hearts.  May the glory of God’s word equip you for every good work you are called to in Christ.

Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance,

Love in Christ,

God’s Word  – Restore us, O God;
make your face shine on us,
that we may be saved. Psalm 80:3

Psalm 138

Prayer of  Strength-Love-Purpose

Heavenly Father,

Your daughters will praise you, O LORD, with their my heart;
   before the “gods” we will sing your praise.
 We will bow down toward your holy temple
   and will praise your name
   for your love and your faithfulness,
for you have exalted above all things
   your name and your word.
When your daughters called, you answered them;
   you made each of them bold and stouthearted.

May all the kings of the earth praise you, O LORD,
   when they hear the words of your mouth.
May they sing of the ways of the LORD,
   for the glory of the LORD is great.

Though you  LORD are on high, you look upon the lowly,
   but the proud you know from afar.
Though we walk in the midst of trouble,
   you preserve our life;
you stretch out your hand against the anger of our foes,
   with your right hand you save us.

 You  LORD will fulfill your purpose for us;
   your love, O LORD, endures forever—
   do not abandon the works of your hands.

Instead deliver us through your unfailing love…

Thank you for the victories you bring to your daughters.

In Jesus name we pray…AMEN!

Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance,

In Christ Love,

Jennifer Pettiford
