God’s Word – Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Psalm 90:12

Encouragement Shared:

The Proverbs state: Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. Proverbs 4:7 The best way to get wisdom is through reading God’s word.  Through the God’s word we can gain a more godly perspective on life.  Through God’s word we gain a more knowledgeable understanding for direction in our lives.  In Paul’s letter to Timothy he writes.  All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2Timothy 3:16-17  Yes, sisters we have been called to get wisdom and gain understanding – in doing so we are equipped through Christ for every good work we are called to do in Christ.

Verse To Meditate On: Know also that wisdom is sweet to your soul; if you find it, there is a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off. Proverbs 24:14

Prayer:

Heavenly Father…

We praise your heavenly name…

We thank you for the gift of Christ that died for us so that we can receive forgiveness of our sins.  Thank you for the counsel of your word that equips us for every good work you call us to through Christ.  Help us Father to number our days so that we may gain a heart of wisdom … your godly wisdom.   We thank you for the victories that you bring us through your power and might.  In Jesus name we pray… Amen!

God’s Word – The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom,
and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.  Proverbs 9:10

 Psalm 119: 65-72 L X Teth
65 Do good to your servant
according to your word, O LORD.
66 Teach me knowledge and good judgment,
for I believe in your commands.
67 Before I was afflicted I went astray,
but now I obey your word.
 68 You are good, and what you do is good;
       teach me your decrees.
69 Though the arrogant have smeared me with lies,
I keep your precepts with all my heart.
70 Their hearts are callous and unfeeling,
but I delight in your law.
71 It was good for me to be afflicted
so that I might learn your decrees.
72 The law from your mouth is more precious to me
than thousands of pieces of silver and gold.

 Encouragement Shared:
God’s word is perfect and filled with promise of good things to those who are walking up rightly. Fear meaning reverance for our Lord is the beginning of knowledge… How can we reverence our Lord?  By reading His word… Theodore Roosevelt stated; ” A thorough knowledge of the Bible is worth more than a college education.   It is through the word of God we see the marvelous works of the Lord.  It is through the word of God we increase in “faith”.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 He will show us His ways and teach us His paths… [Psalm 25] Our heart is grieved; senseless and ignorant, yet God has saved us with his righteous right hand.  –  When my heart was grieved and my spirit embittered, I was senseless and ignorant; I was a brute beast before you. Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand.  It is when we are afflicted that when we seek the Lord, call out to him he is rock our fortress and stronghold.  Through our afflictions we grow in His strength…

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7 NLT~

Encouragement Shared:  Continuation on this verse in 2 Timothy 1:7 … So often in my very own life I find myself wanting to remain in the – “ Comfort Zone”.   Then I go back to walking in “Faith”…  Am I walking in faith Lord?  I love familiarity.  I enjoy know what’s ahead day, after day after day.   According to my seventeen year old daughter boring…  As I hear my daughter saying “boring mom” … It reiterates  2 Timothy 1:7 – Fear-Power-Love and Self-Control…  That is through the power of his word in us that comes to fruition- I share this because I know that these thoughts are common for a lot of us in the body of Christ.  Today we will take a look at the spirit of timidity as a reminder that emotion is not from point of strength it is from a point of fear.  God has called us to place of strength in Him through Christ Jesus.  The word of God reiterates that throughout the scriptures.  So we look to the Lord, and in his word we put our hope.  Regardless of the circumstance: God states in Jeremiah 33:3 Call to me…  Yes, my beautiful sisters call to him because hope in God through Christ never disappoints.  That is the confidence we have in approaching the throne.

Timidity vs. Confidence:

The definition of Timid: lacking in courage or self-confidence ;lacking in boldness or determination.

The Bible states that our competence and confidence come from God.  Such confidence as this is ours through Christ before God. Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 2 Corinthians 3:4-6 … The glory is through God – It is through his unfailing love through Christ in us; the power of the Holy Spirit working in us that we can do any good thing.  Glory to God in the highest – For he called us by name when we walk our steps will not be hampered; when we run we will not stumble.  There is the confidence we have in Him – Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior.   So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. For in just a very little while, “He who is coming will come and will not delay.  But my righteous one will live by faith.
And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him.”  But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved.  Hebrews 10:35-39 We Thank God for His perfect and flawless word.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Help us to follow your prompting through

the power of your Holy Spirit in us.  Regardless of our outward circumstance we will walk by faith and not by site.  We will seek to live not in the spirit of timidity … We desire to live in Christ through the power of love and self-control.  When we fear to move forward, we will recognize that fear is not from you Father.  When we cry…Hear our cry, O God; listen to your daughters’ prayers.  From the ends of the earth we call to you, We call as our heart grows faint; lead us to the rock that is higher than we are Father. For you have been our refuge, a strong tower against the foe.  Your daughters long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings. For you have heard our vows, O God; you have given your daughters the heritage of those who fear your name.  Increase the days of the king’s life, his years for many generations.  May he be enthroned in your presence forever; appoint your love and faithfulness to protect him. Then your daughters will sing praise to your name and fulfill our vows day after day. We thank you for the gift of Jesus and the many victories you bring. In Jesus name we pray…AMEN!

Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance,

Love in Christ,  Jennifer Pettiford
