God’s Word – Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. Colossians 4:2

 Psalm 138
A Psalm of David.
 1 I will praise You with my whole heart;
         Before the gods I will sing praises to You.
 2 I will worship toward Your holy temple,
         And praise Your name
         For Your lovingkindness and Your truth;
         For You have magnified Your word above all Your name.
 3 In the day when I cried out, You answered me,
         And made me bold with strength in my soul.

 4 All the kings of the earth shall praise You, O LORD,
         When they hear the words of Your mouth.
 5 Yes, they shall sing of the ways of the LORD,
         For great is the glory of the LORD.
 6 Though the LORD is on high,
         Yet He regards the lowly;
         But the proud He knows from afar.

 7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me;
         You will stretch out Your hand
         Against the wrath of my enemies,
         And Your right hand will save me.
 8 The LORD will perfect that which concerns me;
         Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever;
         Do not forsake the works of Your hands.

Encouragement Shared: As daughters of the Most High and Holy God, we need to be devoted to prayer being watchful and thankful to our “AWESOME” God… Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Psalm 105:1 Yes, as we look at the scriptures and see the wonderful works of his hands.  The marvelous things he does are too numerous to count.  As you spend your time in prayer give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. [1 Chronicles 16:34]

God’s Power at work in us:
Power of Prayer: Prayer is a matter of sacrifice; commitment and we are encouraged to pray and be devoted watchful and thankful over our prayers.
Power of Application: God strengthens those whose hearts are fully committed to him; 2 Chronicles 16:9
Power of Meditation: Meditation creates memorization, Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Joshua 1:8

Power of God’s Word in Prayer- God’s word is our greatest weapon we have against the enemy.  Jesus gives us a wonderful example of this in Matthew 4 – The Temptation of Jesus… Jesus uses the weapon of the word to come back against every attack of satan.  We need to have the word at the tip of our tongues so that we can stand firm in the “Faith” and be armed with “The Armor of God” [Ephesians 6:10-18].  Be strong sisters and stand firm on the word of truth; The Bible being watchful and thankful!

Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
We thank you for the whole counsel of your word, which you pour in us.  We thank you for the living word that came to life that is Christ.  May your daughters be devoted in prayer, being watchful and thankful for all the marvelous works of your hands.  We will sing praises to your name and tell all the nations what you have done.  Thank you for your word that you exalt higher than your name… In Jesus name we pray… Amen!

God’s Word – Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.  Colossians 4:5

Encouragement Shared:
The book of 1 Peter Chapter 3 states: But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,         1 Peter 3:15  I recall early in my walk with Christ I had a very good friend and she is not of the faith… She is of one of the many cults that are out there deceiving people.  For a short season I worked for her in her business and one afternoon, her husband and another gentleman were doing a study in her home.  And as I was helping her with a project I could hear  false truths.  As she observed my look of disappointment she began to quiz me…  Here I am a young Christian, being challenge by someone who did not set her heart apart Christ as Lord.  She wanted to talk about “Hell Fire” … And as we shared out of my bible; she continued to focus what she called hell fire. I wanted the conversation to end, all that continued to come to mind was :  But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless. Warn a divisive person once, and then warn him a second time. After that, have nothing to do with him. You may be sure that such a man is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned. Titus 3:9-11 I do love this woman and I respect her and clearly I can see her and her husband as great evangelist for those stuck in her cult when she does accept Christ.  Out of my mouth came 1 Peter 3:15b- Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who ask you to give the reason for the hope that you have. …do this in gentleness and respect.  When I used scripture in that powerful way, she backed down gave me a big hug and kiss and said how much she loved me.  I will share that it is not me she loves but Christ in me. I continue to lift her and her family in prayer.  We do speak periodically and she is always so encouraged by my recovery and restoration from my illness.  The bible encourages us to behave in love; gentleness and respect which in of ourselves is not and easy task, but in Christ we can do all things.  Scripture states; …to respect those who work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you.  Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other. And we urge you, … warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone.  Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else.   1Thessalonians 5 Final Instructions as written by Paul…

Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
You are a Holy God, you are worthy of all reverence and respect.  We thank you Father for the counsel of your word.  We thank you for the many victories you bring to us through Christ.  We thank you for the forgiveness of our sins- We will seek to be wise in the way we act toward outsiders; we will make the most of every opportunity.  We  will be prepared to share an answer to everyone who ask to give the reason for the hope that we have.  In Jesus name we pray…Amen!

God’s Promise – Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.  Colossians 4:2

Encouragement Shared:

We are going to be praying through Colossian Chapter 4 –
As I read Colossians Chapter 4 it brings to mind Paul’s first letter to Thessalonica- Final Instructions Thessalonians 5 – The more I read the word of God, the more I see our need to revisit the same issues that God so wants to transform us in.  It took forty years for the children of Israel to enter the promise land what should have been just a few days. They were a stiff necked people who got to see the glory of the Lord and still did not believe or act on “Faith”… As you enter in the presence of The Almighty God today in prayer, remember to pray in faith being devoted, watchful and thankful in all the blessings that are poured in you.  The blessing of the Lord be with you.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father,
How excellent is your name upon all the earth… Your love is unending, your glorious presence is here with us. We thank you for the gift of Christ… We also thank you for forgiving us for our many transgressions and sins. Help us to be devoted to you by living according to your word- Your daughters will seek to obey, because your word states; To obey is better than sacrifice.  Your daughters will devote themselves to prayer,  being watchful and thankful for all you do for us.  We thank you for bringing us from strength to strength-glory  to glory by your spirit.  In Jesus name we pray…Amen!
