God’s Word – Pray continually … 1 Thessalonians 5:17

Encouragement Shared:
The word pray is mentioned in the bible 117 times.  Jesus shows us how to pray in the Model Prayer in the book of Matthew 6:5-17.  Praying is not only a matter of sacrifice it is a command of God.  It is by faith we communicate to God through prayer and in intersession on behalf of ourselves and others.  We must be devoted to do this daily…
When Paul writes in his final instructions to the Thessalonians pray continually, it’s  not about spending all day in prayer and nothing else… It’s about being aware as you go through your daily life to be in attitude of prayer.  It is more about being equipped, paying attention in order – to be used, in order to be ready for those divine opportunities divinely appointed by God.

God’s Word –  God is our refuge and strength,  an ever-present help in trouble.  Psalm 46:1

Encouragement Shared:

A couple of days ago while I was at work… I had a customer that brought a huge amount of clothing. When I started ringing up the men’s clothing I noticed that the denim jeans were $4.80.  I could not help but ask and who are these clothes for?  She answered, “they are going to Haiti’. “ I said, “ oh how wonderful what a blessing. “ I then asked. “ how are things going in Haiti? We don’t hear much talk in the media about the progress. “ The woman became sad and said, “things are still very bad there. “

The woman from Haiti’ introduced her self, her name is Rose.  Rose continued to speak about how the United States have dropped the ball.  I mentioned to her, “ it is sad, unfortunately this country is over extended financially and we really are in no position to help the way they need help. We need to continue to pray for God to move in this circumstance.   I also mentioned that many people have dedicated their time, money and resources especially the body of Christ.  She said more needs to be done.  As today as you pray remember the people of Haiti’ and pray for their salvation, their restoration physically, spiritually and emotionally.  Pray that God would be their refuge and strength in these times of trouble.

Psalm 46

 1 God is our refuge and strength,
       an ever-present help in trouble.

 2 Therefore we [The Nation of Haiti’] will not fear, though the earth give way
       and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,

 3 though its waters roar and foam
       and the mountains quake with their surging.

 4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
       the holy place where the Most High dwells.

 5 God is within her [The Nation of Haiti’], she [Haiti’]will not fall;
       God will help her [Haiti’] at break of day.

 6 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
       he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

 7 The LORD Almighty is with us;
       the God of Jacob is our fortress.

 8 Come and see the works of the LORD,
       the desolations he has brought on the earth.

 9 He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth;
       he breaks the bow and shatters the spear,
       he burns the shields [b] with fire.

 10 “Be still, and know that I am God;
       I will be exalted among the nations,
       I will be exalted in the earth.”

 11 The LORD Almighty is with us;
       the God of Jacob is our fortress.

God’s Word -Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. Colossians 3:16

The Encouragement Shared:
Last weekend was a weekend filled with celebrations, on Friday evening we celebrated a sixteenth birthday, on Saturday we witness the exchange of vows between my brother and his new bride.  It was a time of new beginnings leaving the old behind and stepping into the new life.  For my brother and his bride the two became one.  It brought to mind that love is a ministry through acts of worship and faith through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  On Sunday, as we prepared for our day to serve in our church.  My daughter Jessica was singing worship songs.  It was beautiful.  She was just singing glory to God with a heart of thanksgiving; she was totally unaware that her hum, hum, humming along as she got ready turned into song that filled the air with a sweet aroma that was pleasing to God, it also blessed me.  Honestly, it has been a tough couple of weeks.  We prepared to move, and then we moved, unpacked and prepared for the festivities for the weekend celebrations.  Things were not exactly smooth sailing but God’s provision was on time every step of the way.  The one who calls us is faithful and will do it.  [1 Thessalonians 5:26]  Regardless of the outward appearance he straightens out those paths that are crooked.  Our responsibility is to live by faith and not by sight.  To trust, commit and delight in Him.  Most importantly dwell and live in the word of God.

Scriptures to commit to memory to correspond with the acronym to DWELL richly in the word of God, in doing this the Holy word of God will empower us to do the will of God and reveal our purpose in our lives; our marriages; our work and in every good work he has called to for his purpose in Christ Jesus.  The one who calls is faithful and he will do it.  1 Thessalonians 5:26

Psalm 37:4

Psalm 99:9

Amos 5:4
This is what the LORD says to the house of Israel: “ Seek me and live”… How does a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. Psalm 119:9

Seek to dwell in His word…
The desire to dwell is His word is remaining in Christ- John 1 states that the law came through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.  Jesus is the “Living Word” that became flesh.
